Prince Harry is reportedly feeling “uncomfortable” with his wife Meghan Markle’s new product line American Riviera Orchard because he is afraid of being looked down upon by the royal family.
Prince Harry is reportedly “uncomfortable” with Meghan Markle’s new lifestyle brand but is “so loved up” that his wife of nearly six years “can do no wrong”.
The Duchess of Sussex unveiled American Riviera Orchard with a brand-new social media account on March 15 and is expected to sell a range of homewares, cosmetics and décor items.
Royal insider Tom Quinn believes Harry publicly backs Meghan’s new venture but is privately embarrassed because the royal family “look down on this kind of commercial enterprise”.
“Harry thinks the new brand is a great idea because it’s Meghan’s idea he’s still so loved up that she can do no wrong in his eyes,” Mr Quinn told the Mirror newspaper on Wednesday.
“But we have to remember that he grew up in a family that would’ve looked down on this kind of commercial enterprise, so there is a part of Harry that’s uncomfortable which is why we are unlikely to see Harry personally baking cakes or demonstrating kitchen utensils.”
The insight comes after fresh speculation about the financial backing behind Meghan’s push into homewares.
Markle is believed to be funding her brand with the help of Hollywood money man Adam Lilling, who she likely met through her Montecito neighbour Ellen DeGeneres.
Last week, PR insider Lynn Carratt told the Mirror newspaper Meghan’s new lifestyle brand had “serious potential” to take on rival celebrity product lines, like Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop empire.
“Meghan has the potential to make a name for herself in the cosmetic industry,” she told the Mirror newspaper on Sunday.
