Ten tydzień w kobiecych rozgrywkach stoi przede wszystkim pod znakiem rywalizacji w turnieju WTA 1000 w Pekinie. Oprócz tego toczą się jednak również zmagania niższej rangi. W imprezie ITF W75 w Rancho Santa Fe na terenie Kalifornii bierze udział Katarzyna Kawa. Najpierw Polka przegrała w singlu po tie-breaku trzeciego seta, ale dzień później dostała szansę na poprawę w grze podwójnej. I tam odniosła już spektakularne zwycięstwo – 6:1, 6:1, w zaledwie 49 minut.
Ostatnie tygodnie nie są łatwe dla Katarzyny Kawy. Nasza tenisistka spadła na 263. miejsce w rankingu WTA, choć jeszcze 8 września plasowała się na 181. pozycji. Odkąd nie dokończyła spotkania z Karoliną Muchovą podczas lipcowego turnieju WTA 250 w Palermo, Polka nie potrafi wygrać choćby pojedynczego spotkania w singlu. Niemoc trwa już dwa i pół miesiąca
